We spent our last few days in the modest but perfectly comfortable Marina hotel which was funnily enough, right in the middle of the Muscat Marina.

Oman shopping – from Sur to the souks. We now find ourselves at a town called Sur. On the way we swim in the Wadi fully clothed to preserve our female modesty.
A Wadi is a dry river bed or valley which fills up in the rainy season and sometimes can flood. They are usually found in remote desert locations.

Setting off in December for Muscat, the capital of in Oman, it isn’t too hard to leave ice station England behind for a little while.

Head over to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in King Street, Leyland Lancashire and you will be in for a rare treat. Built on the site of the old Leyland factory, you can enjoy visiting some real retro motor vehicles which were made there. Vintage Leyland Motors buses, fire engines and some terrific trucks.
