I set off for to Brookleigh Health and Spa, up in the beautiful Swan Valley on a glorious Australian summer day with its huge blue endless skies and sparkling sunshine. The Spa is located in an exclusive property designed like a mock French chateau in charming landscaped gardens. The Swan Valley is about a thirty minute drive from the WA capital of Perth. I was heading there on the train from Fremantle along the coast which is a fast, efficient and cheap way to travel around the area. The lovely Rachel who is the centre manager met me at Midland station and drove me out to the Brookleigh estate.

The estate is actually huge and part of it is a very upmarket equestrian venue with an impressive indoor school, stables, and a full cross country course! Dotted around the fields are the most beautiful eventing horses and a few adorable long legged foals.
Brookleigh caters for small parties with two luxury apartments, one double, and one with two bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen come lounge. There’s TV music and books if you need some entertainment too.
|Space to relax|
Specialist herbal teas made locally from natural ingredients, fruit, milk and chilled water are all also on tap. New rooms will soon be ready in a nearby cottage on the estate
|Teas for every occasion!|
My bedroom had a huge high ceiling as it was underneath one of the turrets of the chateau! I had my own large patio overlooking the lake and I ate my breakfast outside admiring the fabulous view.
The spa offers delicious healthy food using seasonal food locally sourced. Meals are served either in your apartment or at the restaurant on the estate, I had a delicious roast duck with Asian salad for my healthy evening choice. The breakfast was pretty good too!
There are wide range of spa treatments available at Brookleigh, including massages, manicures, pedicures and facials. Products available include the local Joi range -lovely natural organic products made locally in Brigadoon – another Scottish place name reference for us Brits!

I enjoyed a full body massage and a luxury Guinot Hydradermie facial from Jess in the spa which was a real treat. The rooms have private access to the lovely little pool, a secluded and pretty spot surrounded by mature gardens. It’s a great place to chill out and relax..
There are also lots of more physical activities to take part in here including bush walks, cycling, pilates and personal training. Things can be tailored to your individual preferences but I would recommend getting out and about while you are at Brookleigh. Rachel took me on a morning bush walk in the Perth hills, although the route she usually used was still damaged by the flash floods the area suffered a couple of weeks back.Yes it does rain sometimes in Australia! I also had a personal training session which I found very useful, as although I enjoy cardio activities I know that strength and resistance training is just as important.
Brookleigh offers one, three or five day spa packages and is also a popular wedding and conference venue. The equestrian facilities are also first class. The Swan Valley is more usually known for its vineyards and wine tasting tours which are fun too, but a stay at Brookleigh is something quite unique and a special option for some healthy pampering and relaxation in a picturesque Western Australian countryside setting.
