Sea Mill Hydro – a top family hotel in Ayrshire

Seamill Hydro

Seamill Hydro hotel in West Kilbride, Ayrshire, has been a family concern for the last thirty five years. Owned by the Sweeney family it has been welcoming back locals for generations, but there’s always a special greeting for new faces too.

Welcome to Seamill!

Right on the shore with a stunning view looking out over to the Isle of Arran, this is a great location for heading off to the islands, stopping by on your way home or just that special break or occasion. After a twelve million pound investment in upgrading some of the interiors and the new reception area, the hotel looks very swish indeed, as does the new winged logo.
The Seamill has a wealth of facilities from the Seamill Hydro Kids Club to the Hydro Leisure and Beauty Therapy facilities, with pool and gym and good restaurant options.

In 1879 Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb and the earliest parts of the present-day Seamill Hydro were built here then on the West Coast of Scotland. Due to it’s age the original part of the hotel is full of character and period charm.
The bedrooms in the older parts of the building offer stately high ceilings and bay windows with breath taking views over the manicured lawns toward the isle of Arran on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland.

The hotel over the years has been extended and adapted leaving an interesting floor plan on the upper levels, the more modern parts of the hotel were designed to make the most of the hotels fantastic location, right on the beach, and many of these rooms have big windows taking in the views.
The resort also offers a range of dining alternatives from the Orangery Restaurant which offers more of fine dining option and looks out to the beach to the more relaxed Aura Lounge Bar. We had a very good Margarita in the Aura Bar, shaken up for us by John our very friendly bar man.
