Where to stay in Belize
Hamanasi Eco resort in exotic Belize is in a prime location, half way down the country’s coastline. It is situated on the picture perfect sandy beach of the Hopkins village area, .
The hotel, although owned by Americans, is all about preserving the environment of this paradise destination. Open for nearly two decades, this beautiful high end resort is still expanding with plans for new deluxe rooms to be built. The gorgeous two bedroom suite we stayed in had a beach and pool view. A hammock on the porch was shaded by the jungle trees.

Hamanasi – eco resort
Seleem showed us around the organic garden which grows vegetables for the hotel restaurant. They also have an extensive composting scheme. Recycled bottles from the hotel are used to line the edges of the paths. They are also crushed up and mixed into cement to make the flagstones through the gardens and around the grounds.
Seleem also works with every department of the hotel to set sustainability targets for each part of the business, and staff are encouraged to come forward with ideas.
The hotel also supports other eco schemes. Hamanasi supports pack with a purpose, where travelers save some space in their luggage to bring in supplies needed for local community projects. They also support the local school where supplies are distributed to the children once a month.

Belize – stunning seascape
The Hamanasi hotel has its own small pier. We headed out in a group on the ‘Adventure Belize’, to go snorkeling on the South water Caye marine reserve.
Friendly staff look after the guests extremely well from start to finish and make sure everyone has the best experience possible.
