Africa, a continent full of fantastic sights, colours and smells. Not to mention multiple cultures and wonderful peoples. Africa is the world’s second-largest continent.
Ancient Egypt is very special. Awash with ancient treasures and jaw dropping history. Why not sail down the Nile on a hand made Dahabiya boat. Check out my adventure doing just that here! Tunisia Don’t underrate it! As an African country, Tunisia has much to offer the discerning traveler. Tunisia produces a huge amount of premium olive oil. It is also packed with incredible historic sites. One such is El Jem amphi-theatre, a location for the film, Gladiator.
Africa covers 20% of Earth’s land area and is home to 1.4 billion people. The oldest inhabited place on Earth, Africa is the origin of the very first humans.
There are an amazing 54 countries in Africa! It is home to the Sahara desert, the largest in the world. It has the world’s longest river, the Nile and it is also as the source of most of the world’s diamonds! Africa is bounded by five seas. The Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. A huge continent. And a lot more for me to explore!
The Pyramids of Egypt
We took the day trip to Cairo from Sharm el Sheik by plane. There has unrest there well covered by the media but we were on a guided tour so I felt pretty safe.
Even one incident can affect the number of visitor numbers to a country. Despite its archaeological riches, Egypt is a poor country and relies heavily on its tourism trade. I had always wanted to see the great pyramid of Giza, the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing.
Sharm El Sheikh
Sharm el-Sheikh is an Egyptian resort town between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea. It’s known for its sheltered sandy beaches, clear waters and coral reefs. Naama Bay, with a palm tree-lined promenade, is filled with bars and restaurants.
