Transylvania – Green Village project My trip to Transylvania was part of the Green Village project in Romania which aims to improve the opportunities for sustainable tourism. Transylvania actually means, ‘the land beyond the forest.’ For most of us, Transylvania is famous because of Bram Stokers’ fictional character.

Transylvania travels. Our Romanian sustainable tourism trip took us high into the Transylvanian mountains. We headed off surfaced roads and into the alpine interior.

Transylvania mountain wine. Romania has quite a good reputation when it comes to wine, although I don’t remember seeing any for sale in the UK. We try some white with our meal in Rimet which was delicious. Quite a lot of the shop stock seemed to be sweet or Dulce, not so nice.

Transylvania is a surprising destination. A discrete province of Romania surrounded by a horseshoe of mountains.it has the ambiance of the swiss alps.
