Whitley Bay Film Festival
The Whitley Bay Film Festival is now in its fourth year and continues to go from strength to strength. On its website, the festival claims it celebrates ‘great films in great locations, in a town without a cinema.’
Eccentric England is at the every heart of my blog. Slaley Show
Slaley country show is making something of a comeback. Last year the sun shone and things got busy. The hog roast van runs out of hog at about 2pm. The beer tent is forced to put up a ‘we have run out of beer’ sign, as visitors flooded in for the summer fun.
Saltburn on Sea – East Coast Joys
Saltburn on sea has a fabulous victorian pier. Never mind Banksy, have you heard of the Saltburn Yarn Stormers? They come secretly in the middle of the night and decorate Saltburn’s Pier with a sleeve of amazing colorful knitted creations.

I can’t resist an English country show – there’s always something mad going on featuring assorted animals and traditional country pursuits.
Potfest in the park
Potfest in the Park. The Potfest is at Hutton in the Forest near Penrith. It is as near to pot heaven you can get if you even have the slightest interest in quality ceramics. 100 top potters from all over the world turn up.
