Travel 2021 -my year in review
2021 was a disastrous year for the travel industry and the hundreds of industries which support it. Accommodation, restaurants, tour guides, ground transport and thousands of attractions to name but a few.
Eccentric England is at the every heart of my blog. From the quirky and unusual Wakefield Rhubarb Festival and the fabulous Potfest in the Park to the most luxury accommodation like Hillside Huts and Cabins and the gorgeous brand new eco house Hemmel House in Northumberland. Check out walking suggestion in and around the North East like Seaton Sluice beach walk and the Lambton estate in Durham. Don’t miss my Scottish blogs like my cycling challenge around Arran or my Welsh trip to the beaches of The Gower Peninsula. Or why not try a visit on horseback to the impressive Castle Leslie in Ireland. Our country has so much to offer and I never tire of exploring new places and meeting new people who live in our awesome UK!
Canal Boat life with Drifters
Our canal boat trip starts from the picturesque banks of Stockton Top marina just half a mile from the historic town of Warwick.
Our craft was the three year old Caroline Mary. A 58 foot, 15 tonne narrow boat. If you are thinking that is a very long boat you would be right. It was definitely going to be a challenge to keep it going in the right direction.

Eleven Arches Kynren
Eleven Arches is the park that Kynren is developing around the site of the awesome live Kynren show which happens in the evenings throughout the summer.
The brand new equine show, Fina and the Golden cape, includes stunning stunt performances by a troupe of skilled riders who have been brought over from the Puy Du Fou show in Les Epesses, France.

On the banks of the River Wear, in a beautiful wooded setting, stand the ruins of magical Finchale Priory. A childhood memory of playing in the river here many years ago brought me back to this special spot this summer.
